Fantastic Voyage

Voyageurs National Park (MN)

Don't even have to walk, don't even have to drive
Just slide, glide, paddle-y paddle
Just forget about your troubles and your 9 to 5
And just sail on (That's what you do), just sail on
Now this groove's so funky, hey, what do you think?
What is it called? Let's call it Lakeside stank.

Voyageurs NP is found on the boundary waters between northern Minnesota and Canada. Voyageurs is not to be confused with the "Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness", although they are both part of the region known as the boundary waters. This region is famous for its amazing northwoods beauty, miles and miles of scenic lakes and rivers, and for being a channel for trading starting in the 1700s.

Alyssa and I were here for a few days and had a great time. This marks the 24th national park we've been to together since 2012! It was a unique experience for us because every single campsite in this park must be access by water and many of them are on their own little islands. Most people had motor boats or house boats, but we rented a canoe and paddled a few miles per day. It took much less long than we thought to canoe even ~7 miles at a time, so we spent a lot of time exploring these little islands and reading books. Very relaxing. We also saw a partial solar eclipse in this park (see my previous post). Although I really enjoyed my time here, I think the next time I go to the boundary waters will be the BWCAW to avoid noise pollution from motorboats.
