Deep Cold

Madison, WI

I've always wanted to photograph frozen bubbles! They're caused by gasses from underwater plants getting frozen. You usually see stuff like this from Lake Abraham in Canada, but I was able to find them in my hometown in Wisconsin. We've had some really, really cold days so far this winter and not a lot of snow, so the ice is really thick and was not covered up yet. It was below 0F when I took this photo, which made it pretty challenging to think straight and take technically sound photos. One is all you need though!
