Nine Springs Creek - Madison, WI
Did you guys see the sunset last night in Madison? Hot damn. I'll tell you right now - I'm an extremely lazy person sometimes, but one of the few things that can get me off my butt is great photo conditions. For my non-Wisconsin friends, we had just had a couple warm weekends that melted all the snow, and then a few inches of snowfall yesterday. Normally it's pretty cloudy and overcast, but last night I noticed an opening in the clouds around the horizon. That means that once the sun is in that opening (at sunset), it'll light up the rest of the cloudy sky. So - fresh snow and a good chance at a colorful sunset, fine, I'll get off my butt. Worth it.
Fun fact: My understanding is sunsets are pink and red due to the low angle of the sun to the earth, light has to travel further through the atmosphere to get to our eyes. In the visible spectrum of light waves, pink and red have the longest frequencies and are the least scattered by the atmosphere so they get through whereas the other colors don't.
